Is urinating in public ever acceptable?
Whether pee hurts trees is a question that's attracted virtually no research . kind of like how a gang member might tag a wall to scare off rivals.

It's probably OK for a tree, but I would not advise doing that for smaller plants, bushes, trees, fence posts, streetlight standards, car tires, bus-shelter walls.
